As of October 31s, there have been 143 crashes and 15 injuries on the Causeway Bridge this year.
Turkeys can make a variety of sounds. Male turkeys are called “gobblers” because of their famous call. It’s a loud, shrill, throaty sound. Females cackle as they fly down from roosts, give very short, soft purring calls. If you listen really closely, sometimes you can hear the female and male turkeys call out “buckle, buckle”!
During the Thanksgiving holiday period, millions of people will hit the roads nationwide eager to spend time with family and friends. In Louisiana, over 700 people were injured and 10 people were killed in fatal crashes during the 2017 Thanksgiving holiday. Please consider the following:
- Buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to save your life in a crash.
- Someone not wearing a seat belt is 30 times more likely to be ejected from a vehicle during a crash.
- Three out of four people ejected during a crash, die from their injuries.
Making the right decision can often mean the difference between life and death. Please buckle up and make sure everyone arrives safely to Thanksgiving.
