Causeway Police Drive Sober Get Pulled Over / Click It or Ticket
With up to 30 DWI arrests a month and more than 1000 monthly citations for careless operations, Causeway Police are enthusiastically taking part once again in the “Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns throughout the coming year.
Causeway police will take part in the program via a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. These grants, funded by Louisiana and federal tax revenues, allow Causeway Police to enhance the safety of motorists on both the Causeway and the Huey P. Long Bridge, through special enforcement of DWI and occupant safety laws.
“The results speak for themselves,” said Police Chief Nick Congemi. “Our officers are constantly on alert for DWI and careless operations. It’s life-threatening on any roadway, and even more so on our bridge. Nothing is more important than safety and this grant helps us keep our commuters safe day and night.”
