Causeway panel OKs toll increase, $103 million in safety improvements

After hearing citizens’ objections for more than an hour, the Causeway Commission voted Wednesday night (Aug. 10) to raise tolls and spend $103 million to beef up railings on the southbound bridge and add sections of shoulder to both spans. Commissioners Shelby LaSalle Jr., Joseph Jaeger Jr. and Stephen Romig voted in favor of the project at a well-attended, and at times testy, meeting in the St. Tammany Parish Council chamber north of Mandeville.

Causeway motorist rescued after pickup plunges into lake

A young lady named Kaylee came and brought the Causeway Police Officers flowers on 08/04/2016. She wanted to thank everyone for their service. She asked her dad to take her to buy the flowers and to bring her to the bridge to hand them out.
