As of November 30th, there have been 155 crashes, 19 injuries and 3,442 responses on the Causeway Bridge this year.
Lights adorn houses, stores are busy, and children are excited with anticipation. Those are sure-fire signs that Christmas is just around the corner. Another way to tell that the festive season is upon us is by looking at the thousands of drivers turning red with anger at the busier roads.
Road rage may not be unique to the holiday period but there’s something about the 12th month of the year that seems to bring out the very worst in some drivers. 66% of traffic fatalities, around the country, are believed to be due to aggressive driving, it’s clear that road rage is a huge problem. Stress is one of the most common causes of road rage. You’ll often find that driving at Christmas is even more stressful than at any other point in the year.
If you find yourself in a road rage incident this Holiday season, please remember to breathe slow, keep calm, count your blessings and don’t become a Grinch. Be jolly like Santa instead and you’ll save lives. If you do see any road rage while driving, please contact GNOEC Dispatch at 504-835-3116 (*27). Merry Christmas from the GNOEC Commission and Staff.
