In 2010 the Army Corps of Engineers began the initial phase of a project to upgrade levee protection at Causeway Blvd. and Lake Pontchartrain.  Work is estimated to take approximately two years.  Although not a GNOEC project, GNOEC management will work closely with Jefferson Parish officials, the Corps and their contractors to minimize traffic delays.
